National DAFNE User website |
|
On July 28th a group of 25 DAFNE graduates met in Sheffield to discuss ways to produce a DAFNE user website. This differs from the existing site in that it will be primarily driven by DAFNE graduates rather than the DAFNE Central NHS team. The idea is to provide DAFNE graduates with ongoing support after they complete the course. It will also provide information about DAFNE for prospective candidates, friends, family and the medical profession Initial ideas for content include:
There are a whole host of other ideas but the ones above will be the first to be implemented The purpose of the website will also be to promote DAFNE. Currently only 10% of the UK have access to DAFNE and 9,800 people out of an estimated potential 200,000 have undertaken the course. This needs to change and the DAFNE central team need users help to make it happen. Far too many PCT's and physicans are resisting the idea of DAFNE for reasons not completely known. Again this MUST change as many, many diabetics have not had a chance to experience the benefits. Lastly not connected with the website, but DAFNE related. Plans are underway to structure the course so that it can be run over 5 weeks ( on Saturdays) rather than 5 days. This will enable those NOT able to attend the five day course to benefit You can access the DAFNE user website by click on the highlighted text. |
