D.E.R.E.K stands for Diabetes Education Revision in East Kent. It is an education course
for Type 2 Diabetics that covers the following subjects:
What is Diabetes, complications of diabetes
Foot care and advice "What can i do to reduce the risk of problems?"
Healthy lifestyle, ''How do I fit this in with my Family?", "How different foods affect my blood sugar control and weight"
Activity and Exercise, setting goals and what to expect, 'How can physical activity can help me?"

The programme is compacted into one day, the dates for the Paula Carr are as follows:
Thurs 17th July, Thurs 14th Aug, Thurs 11th Sept, Thurs 16th Oct, Thurs 20th Nov and Thurs 11th Dec 2008. Start time 09.15 a.m.
Funding for the course is currently available so there should be no problem getting on the course.
We would encourage people to apply as soon as possible as there are only 8 places per course. It is possible for you to take your partner or a friend with you.
