Paula Carr under threat ?

We were recently made aware of plans by the PCT to reduce staffing at the Paula Carr. This greatly concerned us, since the centre is a wonderful facility that is above and beyond the facilities most Diabetics around the country enjoy.

We started to launch a positive campaign to remind the PCT how good the centre really is and how much it is needed. However we have since received news that the will be no staffing changes

Apparently at a meeting attended by the PCT and Kent County Council on the 13th January, the PCT publicly stated that there will be NO reduction of staffing at the Paula Carr centre. They do however want the Diabetic Nurses at the centre to spend more time out in the community at GP surgeries helping to ensure a high standard of Diabetes care.

This does not completely resolve the issues at the centre, since there is still no full time receptionist. We will bring you more developments on this in the near future
